Fear of failure:
People suffering from anxiety disorders for a long period are likely to become self-conscious. Self-conscious people are often worried about things they say and do. A person who's been dealing with an anxiety disorder for most of his/her life may find it difficult dealing with normal day tasks, and when ever anything goes slightly wrong s/he may feel the need to simply escape from the pressure of it all. At every opportunity that person would most likely try his/her best to avoid any failure and would be hurt by the fear of the failure rather than the failure itself.
At times we need to fail at things in order to learn from them. Have you ever come across a child with a fear of failure? I don't think so. If you look at confident people, you would realise how carefree they appear to be. It's not that they are not bothered about making mistakes. Confident people simply realise that making mistakes is normal and they see making mistakes as part of the learning process. If a business person is too worried about making decisions s/he would most likely miss out on many profit making opportunities.
In order to remove this fear of failure, just as children and confident people, we need to remove the negative self talk that failure is equal to bad and embrace the failure. The best way to overcome fear of failure is to enjoy the ride of reaching the goal as much as the goal itself. Fear of failure is explained in "The Root Cause".
